We are delighted to be one of seven projects funded by the UKRI that seek to improve the world of work for UK workers. The ‘Transforming Working Lives’ scheme is led by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and will see almost £4 million invested in new research examining UK workers’ experiences of workplace power dynamics and managing career transitions.

Other projects funded by the scheme will explore a range of issues and groups, including: voice and power among online retail warehouse workers, parental discrimination in SMEs, and the career transitions of ethnic minority doctors.

Announcing the scheme, ESRC’s Interim Executive Chair, Professor Alison Park, said:

The world of work is changing rapidly. Understanding how and why it is changing, and how this affects workers’ lives, will help policymakers, businesses and employees to navigate key challenges, including how to help people to progress in their careers and how to enhance gender equality in the workplace.

All seven projects begin in October 2022 and run for three years.
