We are committed to ensuring that this research has impact and makes a positive change in the lives of young women and young workers and students in general.

To that end, the research team has been working with national partners to develop resources and interventions that support young people in the workplace and raise awareness of students’ employment rights. This includes a new national campaign, launched in September 2026, ‘Earning + Learning’ which helps young people who are both in education and working to learn about their working rights.

The campaign was developed in collaboration with working students who have first-hand experience in combining work and education. Their insights were used at every stage of the process and helped identify the most pressing issues working students face today. The students highlighted gaps in existing support and focused on creating a genuinely empowering campaign for their fellow working students.

‘Earning + Learning’ is backed by three incredible national partners: the Trades Union Congress (TUC), the Young Women’s Trust (YWT) and the National Union of Students (NUS).
